Nestled in the Arizona desert foothills, directly north of Scottsdale and 20 miles northeast of Phoenix, sits
Carefree, a town first established in the late 1950’s as one of the earliest planned communities in Arizona.
The surrounding natural scenery is spectacular with massive rock outcroppings, piled high granite boulders,
sharp mountain peaks and flourishing desert fauna visible for miles.
At an elevation of 2,528 feet, Carefree is typically 10-degrees cooler than Scottsdale and Phoenix, making
life at Easy Street perfectly pleasant year-around. Especially popular in the warm Arizona summers nearby
recreational activities are endless with swimming, boating, hiking, water skiing and fishing at Bartlett Lake,
Lake Pleasant and the Verde River.
Jeep tours, mountain biking, horseback riding and hot air balloon rides are a few of the other ways you might
spend your free time in Carefree.
You’ll know you’re at Easy Street when you run into the largest sundial in the Western Hemisphere – it’s hard
to miss! Designed for K.T. Palmer in 1959, this monstrous sundial stretches 62 feet and points to the North
Star. It is, without a doubt, the flagship landmark of Carefree.
